As evidenced by the photo - it is awesome!
It's really simple to make, as well.

Ingredients:
1/2 a box of Dreamfields Elbow Macaroni (has only 5 digestible carbs!)
1 lb ground turkey (you can omit this for a meatless version, we just like the turkey at the moment)
8 oz easy melt cheese (such as Velveeta)
1 cup skim milk (or unsweetened almond milk)
3 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast Flakes (adds a really good, cheesy flavor)
3 Tbsp Parmesan cheese (to top the whole delicious mess)
For the sauce:
Combine the milk, cheese, and nutritional flakes (as well as some salt and pepper to taste, and any other yummy herbs you want to add in), in a saucepan. Stir frequently until melted and well incorporated.
I could drink this whole pan full! It's that yummy!
While the sauce is cooking, boil water, and add elbow mac. Cook according to directions on package.
Brown the turkey in a pan, and drain.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour some of the sauce over the turkey, stir to coat, and add to the baking dish. When the pasta is done to your preferred degree, drain and rinse. Add the pasta to the baking dish, and pour the remaining sauce over. Stir gently, but well. Top with Parmesan cheese and bake until the Parmesan is melted (or until you can't wait any longer!)
I hope you try it and like it! I make it at least twice a month.
Enjoy!

That looks delicious! I need to look for that pasta.
ReplyDeleteI found it at Wal-Mart, on one of the lower shelves. They have other varieties of pasta, but the elbow mac was all I found. It was almost right next to the easy melt cheese, which got me to thinking about mac and cheese.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a nutritional yeast flake? I want to make this but no clue on that....
ReplyDeleteI'm not entirely sure what the actual description is, but it's little flakes that are packed with vitamins and minerals. And they taste awesome :)
